Artist Statement
We are all connected by a vast cosmic web. I am you, you are me, we are all each other. We exist together within this Universal realm, and stand together against all dangers that may await. We are a greater force at peace then we are at war. What can be created at the level of individual is small in comparison to what can be created at the level of community. But without the individual the community would cease to exist.
Ted Nisker was born in Hamilton, ON in 1986. He showed interest in art at a very early age and has been constantly developing and expanding his skill set as the years go on. Ted has taken courses at Dundas Valley School of Art as well as private art classes from Maya Eventov and Sergei Malina. He continued his education at Ontario College of Art & Design from 2004 to 2011 where he studied many different mediums including digital painting, realism, abstraction, figurative work, photography, printmaking, etc.
In his work Ted likes to push the boundaries of pictorial reality in an exciting and dramatic way. Through years of study Ted has experimented with a variety of different techniques and continues to push the limits of his artistic expression.
Ted has won the Welland Printing Award for best artist two years in a row at Robert Land Academy and has taken part in various exhibitions. Ted has had his work sold at shows and in auctions and it is also kept in various private collections in Canada
In 2016 Ted was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer and received chemotherapy treatment for it at Juravinsky Cancer Center in Hamilton. This cancer scare became a catalyst for Ted’s career because when faced with his own mortality Ted finally decided to devote himself to his art full-time and as a result his ability to paint and draw photographic realism improved dramatically. In 2017 Ted conquered his cancer and now he lives and paints full time in and out of his studio/home in Toronto
